Bosnia and Herzegovina is simply breathtaking. Its landscapes include plains, rolling hills, orchards, forests, river valleys, rocky terrain and the incredible Dinarica Mountain range running along its western border.
Hiking is a national pastime, and we’ve been waiting for the weather to cooperate enough for us to get up a few mountains.
Then the opportunity presented itself to climb Mt Vito, southwest of Sarajevo, with Megan and Matthew. This opportunity wasn’t going to be passed.
I couldn’t take enough pictures, and none of them captured just how amazing this area is!
I was coming off a lovely chest cold, and nothing helps clear the lungs like the quick ascent of a mountain through mud, over rocks and up grassy fields.

There are two family-run restaurants at the trailhead, we happily finished the day with bean soup, šopska salads, and ice cold beer.
One mountain hike down, only about 3,000 to go.
